Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Fee Earning Family Law Paralegal to join our Romford office. In this role, you will provide comprehensive legal support to our family law team, managing a diverse caseload of matrimonial, children, and ancillary relief matters. You will work directly with solicitors and clients, handling case administration, legal research, and document preparation while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Your primary objective is to ensure efficient case progression, accurate billing, and exceptional client service, contributing directly to the firm's revenue generation and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and administer family law cases from initial instruction through to resolution, including matrimonial disputes, children matters, and financial proceedings
- Prepare and draft legal documents including petitions, applications, affidavits, consent orders, and correspondence in accordance with court rules and firm standards
- Conduct legal research on family law issues, case law, and procedural matters to support solicitor advice and case strategy
- Liaise with clients, opposing solicitors, courts, and third parties to progress cases and obtain necessary information and documentation
- Maintain accurate case files, time records, and billing documentation to ensure proper fee recovery and compliance with practice management systems
- Attend court hearings and client meetings as required, taking notes and providing post-hearing summaries and advice
- Monitor court deadlines, limitation periods, and procedural requirements, flagging issues proactively to supervising solicitors
- Provide general legal advice to clients on procedural matters within your scope of authority and experience
- Support the solicitors in case preparation, including witness statement review, evidence organisation, and trial bundles
- Contribute to the efficient running of the family law department and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and external contacts

Experience & Expertise Required:
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience as a paralegal or legal executive in family law, ideally in a fee-earning environment
- Thorough knowledge of family law procedure, including matrimonial, children, and financial remedy proceedings
- Proficiency in legal research, document drafting, and case file management
- Familiarity with practice management and billing systems
- Understanding of court rules, deadlines, and procedural requirements in family law
- Ability to provide general legal advice within your scope of competence and authority
