About the job

About our client

Our client is an international New Space company specializing in the development, manufacturing and operation of next-generation space systems.

Driven by an innovative vision and a strong engineering and technology focus, the company builds advanced Earth observation solutions that help public and private organizations make decisions based on high-quality, real-time data.

The Operations team is currently expanding to keep scaling one of the most innovative satellite constellations on the market.

If you are drawn to technology, complex systems and high-impact technical challenges, this is a rare chance to join a fast-growing industry and work hands-on with real space infrastructure.

About the team

You will join the Mission & Operations team, responsible for the day-to-day operation of a satellite constellation in orbit.

The team covers the full operational lifecycle of the satellites, from launch and commissioning through daily operations, maintenance, software updates and eventual decommissioning. It also works cross-functionally with Engineering and R&D to keep availability, reliability and fleet performance as high as possible.

As part of Satellite Operations, you will help maximize constellation availability through continuous monitoring, preventive and corrective maintenance, process automation and incident resolution.

About the role

We are looking for a Satellite Operations Engineer with a strong technical mindset and a genuine appetite to learn in a highly innovative environment.

You will take part in the daily operation of a satellite constellation, combining real-time monitoring with the development of tools that make operations more efficient and scalable.

It is an ideal role for people with a background in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or related fields who enjoy solving complex problems and working with mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor satellite health, performance and operational status.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of monitoring and automation tools.
  • Detect, investigate, diagnose and resolve operational incidents.
  • Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance procedures.
  • Support the commissioning of new satellites after launch.
  • Run in-orbit experiments and tests following established procedures.
  • Work alongside Engineering and R&D to validate new features and updates.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and constellation efficiency.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation and operating procedures.
  • Take part in an on-call rotation to guarantee continuous operational support.

Requirements

Must-haves

  • Programming experience in Python.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Bash scripting.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs or similar technologies.
  • Final-year student, recent graduate or junior professional in:

  • Intermediate level of English or above.
  • Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Curiosity, autonomy and a drive to learn.

Nice to have

  • Experience with monitoring or automation systems.
  • Knowledge of DevOps, SRE or high-availability environments.
  • Previous experience in telecommunications, embedded systems or critical infrastructure.
  • Interest in the space industry and satellite operations.
  • Familiarity with observability, metrics or incident management.

What we offer

  • A role at a leading company within the New Space ecosystem.
  • Direct involvement in operating a satellite constellation in orbit.
  • Cutting-edge technology and projects with global impact.
  • An international, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Continuous learning and accelerated professional growth.
  • A culture built on collaboration, innovation and technical excellence.
  • Flexible working: remote from Spain or hybrid from Barcelona.
  • Direct exposure to Engineering, Software, Operations and R&D teams.
