Senior Mechanic

Bedminster, Bristol | £35,000 – £45,000 per annum DOE | Permanent, Full-Time

THE OPPORTUNITY

An established independent garage based in Bedminster, Bristol is looking for a time-served Senior Mechanic to join a small, close-knit workshop team. This is a genuine long-term opportunity at a busy, well-regarded local garage that services motorcycles, cars, and vans for a loyal customer base.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow into a management role, with the current owner planning to step back from day-to-day operations within five years.

THE ROLE

Key responsibilities include:

• Routine and major servicing on cars, vans, and motorcycles
• Timing belt and clutch replacements
• Fault diagnosis using Launch diagnostic equipment
• MOT testing (licence held or support provided to obtain)
• Pre- and post-repair quality checks
• Informal mentoring and task delegation to a third-year apprentice
• Maintaining a clean, safe workshop environment

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Essential:

• Experience: Minimum 6 years' hands-on experience as a qualified mechanic
• Servicing: Confident across full-service schedules including major services
• Timing Belts & Clutches: Proven ability to complete these replacements across a variety of makes and models
• Diagnostics: Competent in vehicle fault diagnosis; Launch scanner experience beneficial
• MOT: Current MOT tester licence, or experience sufficient to obtain one (funded by the garage)
• Location: Must live within 15–20 miles of Bedminster, Bristol BS3

Desirable:

• Experience mentoring or guiding junior technicians
• Familiarity with Autodata or similar workshop software
• Interest in progressing into a management or supervisory role
• Experience working on VW T4 and T5
  

WHAT'S ON OFFER

• £35,000 – £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience
• Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:00 — no weekends
• 21 days annual holiday
• MOT tester licence funded by the employer if not already held
• Genuine management progression pathway within 5 years
